Digital Learning & Teaching Program

posted May 9, 2018, 11:21 PM by indiaEschool   [ updated May 9, 2018, 11:28 PM ]

The DLTP project was launched in beginning of 2017 with focus on forming partnerships with various agencies working in education domain, thereby increasing the outreach to students coming from different segments of the society.

It is now maturing into our flagship program ( Digital Learning & Teaching Program  ) which focuses on children from low income groups and those living in remote areas; by effectively using the power of Internet.

There has been a steady increase in the usage of our digital platform IndiaEschool.com and through the DLTP program we have been able to train around 100 teachers in different schools and learning centers. More than 1500 e-classes have been conducted in these learning centers impacting around 3000 students.

Impact of Work in Progress:

Teachers : Significant improvement in the comfort level with which teachers use technology in teaching.

80% of the teachers trained did not have exposure to the use of technology and internet and were reluctant to use it in classroom teaching. Through the workshops they were able to overcome their hesitation and slowly started seeing the effectiveness of the resources available in the E-Library as a teaching-aid. They found they could upgrade their teaching skills significantly by going through the resources available in the library. The E-library provided them a means to interact more actively with the children so as to provide them better understanding of the subjects.

Most of them found the program to be extremely useful for their overall development and felt that although initially they were skeptical; they found meaningful data that aided them in providing clarity of concepts to students.

The teachers found an increased interest in students in all the subjects that were taken in the E-classes and the demand for adding E-content in other subjects steadily increased.

Overall there was an improvement in teachers in the following areas

  • Confidence in using technology for teaching

  • Understanding how a technological setup can be made to function

  • Improved and varied teaching techniques

  • Better lesson planning

  • Reduction in time for lesson planning after overcoming teething problems

Students : Most of the students find it very interesting and are enthusiastic about attending E-classes. However, most students emphasized that they found it interesting only when teachers made the sessions interactive. This is why the DLTP program focuses on capacity building of teachers.

In a recent study it was observed that children going through the E-Classes in centers where the program was already in progress had much more concept clarity than those of much higher classes where it was not running.

Overall the following impact  has been observed in students

  • More interest generated in studies

  • Confidence

  • More initiative for self learning (doing experiments and creating models from the net)

  • Better grades

  • Better Spoken English

Management and Processes: The program (DLTP) has now started helping teachers and management  to use standard  server-based collaborative tools. This helps them in maintaining reports that can track the progress of each beneficiary in their respective  centers. The management can also cull out reports based on their specific needs and thus  have a better hold on the activities happening in their respective learning centers.

Project 'DLTP'

Number of agencies working in education domain are planning to implement ICT to improve learning among children.

indiaEschool.com was started with a similar aim - to improve primary education amongst children from low income groups or those living in remote areas, with the help of internet.

Over the period of last few years the initiative has evolved into ‘Digital Learning & Teaching Program’ (DLTP) which is based on the concept of utilizing the power of internet to enhance education. The program tries to fulfill the requirement of such agencies.

In the Indian context, availability and affordability of internet and mobile connectivity has improved considerably in the last few years and this has brought in great potential to bridge the digital gap between haves and have-nots of our population. However at an individual student level ( for the masses and particularly for low-income groups) access to internet is still a challenge. Hence the program is designed to intervene through teachers & instructors using both formal school system and the informal structures like tuition and other learning centers.

DLTP focuses on enhancing capability of teachers, para-teachers & instructors, working in different school systems & learning centers. The program works in a consulting mode wherein services are provided to partner organizations and their schools / centers through training-workshops, followed by hand holding support (including Virtual E-Classes) and a guided access to online content through E-Library.

The consulting program is a one-year long project. However, it can be altered depending upon the intensity of engagement required by the partner organization.

The main components of the program are:
Assessing and evaluating exact needs of these learning centers
Workshops and Trainings for capacity building of Teachers & center coordinators
Content curation and access
Guidance for setting up of E-classes
Support for Teachers & center coordinators through 'Virtual E-Classes’

Our initiative is presently focusing on building capacity of teachers & instructors using the 'power of internet'. The model works in a consulting mode wherein we help our partners (organisations & schools) through training workshops, followed by hand holding classes ( including Virtual Live Classes ) and a guided access to online content through our e-Library.

The consulting program is normally one year long project. However it can be altered depending upon the intensity of engagement the partner organisation / school requires.

The main components of the program are:
  • Workshops and Trainings
  • Content curation and access
  • Delivery through E-class
  • Support for teachers / instructors through 'Virtual Live Class'
We try to cover all topics for subjects like Mathematics, English, Science, Social Science - topics included in different State Education Boards , CBSE , NIOS etc.  Online content is in English, Hindi and different regional languages.

India E school inspired by YouTube !

posted Feb 21, 2017, 9:19 PM by indiaEschool   [ updated Feb 22, 2017, 7:01 AM ]

'India E school' is inspired by  YouTube , the second most popular website (first being Google)  and the largest library of videos  !

Our e-Library is a curation of online educational content from different sources (mostly on YouTube) and we provide it to teachers and students in an easy to use format.

The e-library is also offered free of cost in our ‘Learning Centres'. These centres use ICT (information & communication technology) to facilitate teaching-learning process and are set up in 'low income’ areas with a clear focus on improving capacity of teachers / instructors so as to enable enriched learning.

The basic framework has already been tested and is running successfully in number of schools. For expanding and increasing the outreach, we seek collaboration with agencies working in the domain of education and child development.

Setting up Learning Centres

We set up 'Learning Centres' for economically marginalised children. These learning centres use ICT (information & communication technology) to facilitate teaching-learning process and are set up in 'low-cost schools' that cater to  such population.

At the back end we curate educational content from different sources and provide it to teachers and students. The objective is to help students access quality educational content, using the 'power of internet'. There is also clear focus on improving capacity of teachers / instructors so as to enable enriched classroom teaching.

The basic framework has already been tested and is running successfully in number of schools.
For expanding and increasing the outreach, we seek your support.
