Half yearly newsletter (H1-2020)

Online Classes on Mobile Phones:

The first half of the year has seen a rapid spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, and has impacted school education all over. This has also brought ‘online classes’ and ‘e-education’ into the limelight with an increase in demand from the end users - NGOs, schools, learning centers and students.

With schools shut, most of the students being from the under-privileged segment, lost their access to computers and to e-classes.

However, with the learnings and exposure we gained from our ‘Spoken English on Mobile Phone’ program conducted in 2018, we were able to quickly fine-tune the program and offer it to our partner organizations, re-shaping it as ‘Online Classes on Mobile Phones’.

The program has been very well received and it’s a heartening experience seeing students pick it up fast and study enthusiastically.

Main features of the program include :

  • Parents lend mobile phones to their children for one-hour daily

  • Students join different batches through a dedicated portal WhatsAppClass.com, specially started for this program

  • Once communication channel is opened through WhatsApp, students are guided on how to use video conferencing tools, and they join our online live classes conducted through Google Meet or Zoom

  • Students are also taught how to use Google-Classroom, providing them subject wise and topic wise educational content, comprising of videos, worksheets and exercises

Since Covid-19 lock-down began, almost 600 students and 20 teachers have enrolled in this program.
